Honey
Africa produces a diverse and unique range of honeys. With the support of development organisations and research institutes like the ICEPE, Africa is now producing some of the richest organic honeys in the world. The natural diversity of African flora results in honeys with a variety of subtle natural flavours. |
We have selected a number of high quality honeys from Ethiopia, Tanzania and Zambia. Community BenefitEach of these honey producers are small community groups who have been supported to take up bee keeping so as to provide a livelihood for rural farmers who have few other opportunities to diversify their income. By processing and packaging the honey close to its source all additional benefit will remain in the community. |

Jam
Value Added in Africa has sourced a range of high quality fruit jams from the foot of Mount Kenya. All of the ingredients used are organically grown, protecting those who work on the land from exposure to chemicals and eliminating chemical residue from the food chain. Community Benefit
This jam is produced by a cooperative of 479 small farmers in the Meru and Embu areas at the foot of Mount Kenya. The coop was established in 1991 to benefit from an irrigation project in the region. As a cooperative, all of the generated profits are kept in the community, creating a sustainable livelihood for hundreds of families. All of the net profits are reinvested in the two production facilities in Meru. All of the jams are organically certified by the Soil Association UK and the packaging can be redesigned to meet the client’s aesthetic or technical requirements. |
