A number of African countries have developed garment industries in recent years based upon locally grown cottons and on imported textiles. Significant also have been US trade policies which have favoured the African textile industries. The industry is comprised of two main sectors: Garment Factories which supply bulk orders for supermarkets and industrial buyers and the Hand-Made sector which produces for the boutique segment of the market. Further, a number of companies produce accessories and household goods from cloth. |
